2024 Annual Meeting Awards Information
The 2024 IPS Annual Meeting will take place on Saturday, October 5 at the Holiday Inn in Countryside, IL. The day will be packed full of educational sessions, networking, a poster session, and of course, the awards dinner. Please take some time to honor your colleagues and friends by submitting award nominations for the below categories to be presented at the Annual Meeting on October 5.

Award Descriptions:
Member of the Year Award
This award recognizes a member of the IPS who has contributed to the practice of psychiatry through the highest standards of patient care, education, community action, and advocacy.
Nominee Criteria:
At least five years membership in the IPS
Must be involved/volunteer with IPS activities
Patient and collegial recognition of highest practice standards
Recognized contribution to the field of psychiatry locally or statewide
Is not a member of the IPS Executive Committee
Resident/Fellow Member of the Year Award
This award recognizes a resident or fellowship member of the Illinois Psychiatric Society who best represents the ideals of being a dedicated psychiatric trainee, in the view of colleagues and teachers.
Nominee Criteria:
Must be an IPS member.
Must be a resident or fellow trainee in a program within the state of Illinois.
Must have a letter of endorsement from faculty or program director.
Must be a resident or fellow in good standing within their program.
Medical Student Member of the Year Award
This award recognizes a medical student member of the Illinois Psychiatric Society who best represents the ideals of being a dedicated physician trainee with special interest in psychiatry, in the view of colleagues and teachers.
Nominee Criteria:
Must be an IPS member.
Must be a medical student in a program within the state of Illinois.
Must have a letter of endorsement from faculty or program director.
Must be a medical student in good standing within their program.
Excellence in Patient Care Award
Nominees should have demonstrated excellence in regard to patient care.
Nominee Criteria:
Must be an IPS member
Excellence in Community Service Award
Nominees should have demonstrated excellence in some type of community service. (Does not have to be psychiatry related.)
Nominee Criteria:
Must be an IPS member
Educator/Mentor of the Year
Nominees should have demonstrated excellence in their capacity as a psychiatry educator and/or mentor.
Nominee Criteria:
Must be an IPS member
Outstanding Achievement in Scholarly Activities
Nominees should have demonstrated excellence in psychiatric research or other scholarly activities.
Nominee Criteria:
Must be an IPS member
Outstanding Achievement in Advocacy Activities
Nominees should have demonstrated excellence in Illinois advocacy and/or government relations work related to mental health.
Commitment to Physician Wellness
Awarded to an Individual or Organization. This award recognizes a program in Illinois staffed or led by a IPS member who is working to reduce physician burnout and/or improve professional satisfaction for physicians.
Excellence in Innovative Care
Awarded to an individual who has improved patient access to care by leading and developing, or otherwise creating transformative mental health care delivery. This can include being a leader in the use of collaborative care, telepsychiatry, or another novel and innovative care delivery process.
Nominee Criteria:
Must be an IPS member
