The mission of the Illinois Psychiatric Society (IPS) is to raise awareness of mental health needs; to improve quality, parity, equity, and access to evidence-based psychiatric care for all of those residing in Illinois; to represent the profession of psychiatry as a district branch of the American Psychiatric Association; and to serve the professional needs of its membership.

2. Education Goals

Provide training and education to improve quality of care, maintain clinical competencies, and build skills and leadership in emerging and integrated models of care. IPS offers education, training, and support to members on new models of care delivery. IPS strives to not only promote research and professional education in psychiatry and allied fields, but to also make psychiatric knowledge available to others.

3. Organizational Advancement Goals

Improve infrastructure of the IPS and foster greater membership engagement. IPS is committed to being the expert voice and a leader on issues of mental health care in Illinois, and to build leadership from within. We value our diverse membership and are inclusive of all regardless of stage of career, geographic location, practice, etc. We will practice inclusion, diversity, and equity to promote engagement, openness, and appreciation of varying contributions and perspectives from our members.
